SMJ - Playwright

SMJ (they/them) is a mixed-Latiné, non-binary, and NYC-based playwright originally from Mount Vernon, OH. They are proud to be the Executive Director of Andy’s Summer Playhouse. They were a Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow. Their work has been seen in various forms with Ars Nova, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, New York Stage and Film, New York Comedy Festival, Latinx Playwrights Circle, The Orchard Project, and Live Arts in Charlottesville. Recently, SMJ has been a finalist for the Princess Grace Award in Playwriting at New Dramatists, a semifinalist for the O’Neill’s National Playwrights Conference, and a semifinalist for the National Music Theater Conference. SMJ’s musical this old haunt is a NAMT-Recommended musical. They are a member of the Dramatists Guild and Ring of Keys.

Mackenna Goodrich (she/they) loves Big Girl Explosion Fests and plays of and about the body. Original Music by Sierra Lancaster

Sierra Lancaster (she/her) is an Indian-American singer-songwriter, actor, and theatre producer originally from Omaha, NE and based in NYC. She released her debut album “Thank You, and Goodnight!” this past summer, and has performed her original music all around the world, including The Bowery Electric, Rockwood Music Hall, Berlin Under A, pinkFROG Café, and others. Sierra is also a prolific theatre producer, having produced both on Broadway (Pass Over) and off (Prospect Musicals, Broadway Advocacy Coalition, The Kennedy Center, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, JACKny). Proud alum of The Boston Conservatory at Berklee (BFA ’22) and Theater Producers of Color (’23). Jessie Jo Aka - MARINA

Jessie Jo Aka is in her happy place making art with friends. She was recently seen as Wendla opposite Broadway’s Casey Likes in his revival of Spring Awakening. Based in NYC, Jessie Jo made her Off-Broadway debut starring in An Axemas Story. Select regional credits: Marie in The Scarlet Pimpernel (John W. Engeman Theatre), Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray (Little Theatre on the Square) and Nicola in Kinky Boots (The Phoenix Theatre Company). Nikki Cannon- DIANNA

Nikki Cannon (she/her) is an actor, singer, and dancer originally from Florida. She is a current member of the Breaking & Entering Line Up and has been working with B&E since 2021. Recent projects include C. Lingus, Independent Journalist at The Tank’s Limefest, Serials Summer Cycle at The Tank, and Giant Skybeam at Second City. Maddie Robert - ALISON

Maddie Robert she/her was born at a very young age, grew up in Kansas City, attended the University of Oklahoma for her BFA in Musical Theatre, and promptly moved to NYC to live the dream. Most recently, Maddie was in the world premiere of Dolly: A True Original Musical in Nashville. Up next, she will be in the new Off-Broadway musical Picnic at Hanging Rock (Greenwich House Theatre). Other credits include: Hip Hop Cinderella (New Victory), Gypsy (Goodspeed Opera House), and Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street (Arts Center of Coastal Carolina). Michael Ortiz - Producer

Michael Ortiz (he/him) is an multi-hyphenate theater artist hailing from the state of Florida. He has been a resident with Breaking & Entering since the collective's inception, and he now serves as Co-Artstic Director alongside Emily Bubeck and Molly van der Molen. He is a co-founder of The Fled Collective and he currently produces and hosts SERIALS, an episodic late-night short play competition series. Michael is a firm believer in community building over networking and is passionate about the cultivation of new work and creating opportunities for underrepresented artists, particularly queer artists and artists of color. He is an avid gamer, a home cook, and lover of all things spooky. Hit him up if you ever want to talk D&D or learn to play the spoons!

Molly Van Der Molen -

Molly Van Der Molen (she/her) is a playwright, director and creative producer based in NYC and the SF Bay Area. She’s a proud Co-Artistic Director of Breaking & Entering Theatre Collective and the Company Associate at Shotgun Players in Berkeley, CA. Molly is dedicated to curating opportunities for emerging artists and envisions a sustainable future for theatre that is radically collaborative, equitable and doesn’t shy away from what’s true. She’s a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College and a die hard lover of ice cream.
